Accessibility Policy Statement
When designing this website, we wanted to make it both accessible and educational for the largest variety of people possible - seniors, adults, children, parents, students, teachers and professional service-providers whether they are sighted, visually impaired, blind, deafblind, or have multiple disabilities.
The Perkins site was developed using a layout method known as Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) which allows for the most accessible design, and is compatible for all users whether or not they are visually impaired. Any device or software capable of displaying Web content can access information from www.Perkins.org. This includes audio browsers, text-only browsers, screen-reading software and screen magnification software, among others.
For the design of website pages, use of CSS is recommended the Web Accessibility Initiative and other related experts. A small number of users may notice minimal changes to the site design because they continue using older and nonstandards-compliant browsers. While all browsers will display all content, the use of these older browsers may affect how this content appears or is presented on the page.
Our website employs various enhancements which actively promote accessibility for people who are blind or visually impaired. To the best of our ability when we introduce an internal link to information that we know to be inaccessible, we will point you toward the same content in an accessible format.
While Perkins advocates that all websites should be accessible to all users, this site does include links to other sites which may not have the same level of accessibility as www.Perkins.org. When using an external link from the Perkins site to another, Perkins makes no representation that the site being visited will offer the same level of accessibility to the user. Because sites and their enabling programs and applications vary, users may need to readjust browser settings after leaving the Perkins website to visit another.
We suggest that if the user encounters a site that is not accessible, that site should be contacted and asked to comply with accessibility requirements in accordance with the Web Accessibility Initiative at www.w3.org/WAI.
