Museum Passes

The Perkins Braille & Talking Book Library offers free or discount passes to five area museums. Call 617-972-7240 or 800-852-3133 or email library@perkins.org for more information or to reserve a pass.

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum is an intimate collection of fine and decorative art. Housed in a stunning 15th century Venetian style palace with three stories of galleries surrounding a sun- and flower-filled courtyard, the Museum showcases more than 2,500 paintings, sculptures, tapestries, furniture, rare books and decorative arts.

The library pass allows general admission on Tuesdays through Sundays for $5.00 per person. This pass must be reserved in advance and returned by mail after use. The pass admits four people on weekdays, two people on weekends and does not include concerts, lectures or other separately ticketed events.

Mystic Seaport

Our Mystic Seaport pass program entitles up to four people free admission to Mystic Seaport on the day printed on the card. This pass must be reserved in advance and returned by mail after use. Immediately after use, the passes must be returned to the Library. Passes are valid all year round.

The historical ships and buildings, stone sidewalks and gravel roads create a fascinating 19th century atmosphere. A Guide to Access and braille information are available at the Visitor Reception Center. Guided tours are also available for special needs audiences through the Museum Education Department. The Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Boston encompasses nearly 450,000 works of art in all media. Programs like “Feeling for Form” offer tactile exploration of selected objects for visitors who are blind or have low vision. The MFA pass is a coupon program for each day of the year (except major holidays). In addition to the general discounted admission fee of $5.00 for two adults with the coupon, holders of the passes may upgrade to a special exhibition for an additional $8.00 for the same day they are visiting. With more than 600 permanent exhibits, an active roster of traveling exhibits, and a friendly crew of science interpreters, the Museum’s exhibit halls are never the same place twice. The usual cost per person for the Museum of Science is $16.00 per adult, so this $5.00 coupon offers our patrons a great savings. 

The coupons allow up to four people $5.00 admission per person. Admission to special exhibits, the planetarium, or the Omni Theater is an additional charge. Visit their website at http://www.mos.org for more information.

The New England Aquarium, located on Central Wharf in Boston, MA, is our newest addition to our museum pass program. The Aquarium encourages a hands-on experience of the world of water through its fun and educational programming.
