Understanding Vision Loss in Elders

It is crucial that professionals and family members be aware and educated in order to help elders facing vision loss. This is why Perkins offers a workshop that explores five case studies and a video depicting clients facing different life choices as a result of vision loss. Through the case studies participants learn how to:

  • Recognize signs of vision loss
  • Help clients set realistic goals
  • Introduce coping skills and techniques
  • Address issues in working with families with visually impaired members
  • Identify agencies that can help elders with vision loss

If interested in hosting this 2 hour workshop, please contact Debby Smith at 617-972-7643. Workshop attendees are eligible to obtain 2 social work CEU's (continuing education units). Workshop fee to be determined with partnering organization.

Perkins Outreach Services to Elders staff are also available to provide training to consumers, staff and community organizations. Please contact Debby Smith at 617-972-7643 to discuss your needs.
