A month-long exhibition at the Arsenal Mall in Watertown this holiday season displayed unique and inspiring Perkins student artwork.

Monoprint artwork of a heart and leaf

Under the direction of teacher Rocky Tomascoff, Perkins Lower School students layered water-based inks with a variety of textured objects on plexiglass to create one-time artistic impressions called “monoprints.”  Teacher Bruce Blakeslee guided Secondary School students through a variety of art forms, including terra cotta sculpture, glazed ceramics, and multi-media collage.

Brad, 20, is partially sighted and used acrylic paint on canvas board to create the whimsical "Sunset with Flying Fish," which he describes as “an imaginary landscape at sundown with fish in the water.”

Nick, 17, has lost most of his sight due to a progressive condition. Nick's vivid inner vision allows him to take a hands-on approach when creating such mixed media pieces as “Untitled,” merging brush strokes with other elements such as printed paper and glue.
