Bequests
A charitable bequest lives on – leaving a legacy that will make a difference for generations to come. Making your bequest intentions known to Perkins allows you to enjoy the rewards of giving long before the actual gift is received and entitle you to membership in The Thomas H. Perkins Legacy Society.
A bequest to Perkins can be made by creating a new will, adding a codicil to your current will, designating Perkins as a beneficiary of your retirement plan, or including Perkins in your revocable trust or other estate plan.
The following language may be used for an outright gift by will:
Specific dollar amount of percentage:
"I give the sum of (dollars or percentage of estate) to the Trustees of Perkins School for the Blind, a charitable corporation established by law at Watertown in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, to be used for the school's general purposes."
Part of all of residue:
"I devise and bequeath to the Trustees of Perkins School for the Blind, a charitable corporation established by law at Watertown in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, all (or specify a portion) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to be used for the school's general purposes."
